Maurice Odumbe
Martin Odumbe
Born: 15/06/69
Team: Aga Khan Sports Club
ODI debut: 18/02/96
Past World Cups: 1996, 1999

Right-handed batsman
Right-arm off-break bowler

To many Maurice Odumbe has been the most important member of the Kenya side for over a decade.

In his second innings at international one-day level, Odumbe struck 50 against a very good Australia side.

The 33-year-old's best score to date was the 83 he made against India in 1998.

His best bowling, three for 15, came against the West Indies at the 1996 World Cup - a match which Kenya surprisingly won.

Dropped as captain prior to the last World Cup, he was reinstated in 2001, only to be replaced by Steve Tikolo.

But Odumbe will certainly play an integral part for the national side in South Africa.
