Azhar Mahmood
Born: 28/2/75
Teams: Surrey, United Bank Limited
ODI debut: 16/9/96
Past World Cups: 1999

Right-handed batsman
Right-arm medium-fast bowler

A genuine all-rounder, Azhar has talent in abundance and is able to deliver the goods in one-day and Test cricket.

As a batsman, the right-hander often raises the tempo of the lower-middle order, particulary relishing shots off his legs as well as anything short.

In attack, he is a useful English-style seam bowler who can chip in with wickets in time of need.

Azhar made his one-day international debut against India in 1996, but it was only when he played in his first Test against South Africa the following year that he gained true recognition.

He made 128 in the first innings and 50 in the second without being dismissed.

When free from injury, he has become a regular member of the Pakistan one-day squad, where his hard-hitting batting has proved especially useful.
