One of the greatest left-arm bowlers in the history of world cricket, Wasim has been playing for Pakistan for more than 16 years.
The 36-year-old may not be as young as he once was, but he is still a world-class all-rounder and the one-day game suits his explosive attributes.
He is probably the foremost exponent of reverse swing and can still produce the unplayable ball and generate surprising pace off an economical run-up.
With nearly 500 one-day wickets Wasim remains a fearsome opponent with the ball.
His batting has been somewhat subdued of late, and although he cannot be relied upon to produce a big innings he is more than capable of a flashing cameo.
Wasim made his World Cup debut in 1987 and was a member of the team which lifted the trophy five years later.
This will be his fifth and final tournament as the former captain has already announced his intention to retire after the World Cup.
