JJ Esmeijer
Born: 20/12/72
Team: Excelsior '20
ODI debut: 16/9/02
Past World Cups: -

Right-handed batsman
Left-arm slow orthodox bowler

The 29-year-old all-rounder is usually better known for his left-arm spin than his skills with a bat.

But Esmeijer became the team hero in 2001 when his 58 not out against Namibia sealed a historic victory in the ICC Trophy.

His score was one of only four half-centuries in his country's 10 matches during the competition.

The man of the match proved less impressive in the ICC Champions Trophy a year later, notching just seven runs and taking no wickets in heavy defeats by Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Although he has played for Somerset second XI, the right-handed batsman now plies his trade with Excelsior '20 in his own country.
