Van Troost has proven himself as a steady middle-order batsman and useful medium-pace bowler in the Dutch side.

He was vital to the their success at the ICC Trophy in 2001, contributing to the Netherlands' impressive bowling attack.

Van Troost's batting performances might have been disappointing in Toronto, but the left-hander averaged 19.91 with the ball.

In the ICC Champions Trophy in 2002 he helped restore some national pride during defeat to Pakistan by notching up a 55-run fifth-wicket partnership with Tim de Leede.

The Excelsior '20 player was also involved in the Netherlands' triumph in the European Championships in 2000.
