Would it be fair to say that Sachin Tendulkar is the best current batsman in the world today?

Some might argue that Australia's Adam Gilchrist would give him a run for his money.

However, the pint-sized Tendulkar has consistently produced the goods at the highest level for well over a decade.

Considering he has not turned 30 yet, the fact he has scored over 11,000 one-day runs, and well on his way to clocking up 9,000 Test runs, is a remarkable achievement.

Australia's Steve Waugh is the only current playing batsman with more Test runs than Tendulkar.

But he is seven years older than the Indian, and his total of just over 10,000 runs will almost certainly be passed.

As far as one-day batting records are concerned, Tendulkar is the greatest to have ever played the game.

He has played in three World Cups and is likely to play in at least two more.
