Daniel Vettori
Daniel Vettori
Born: 27/01/79
Team: Northern Districts
ODI debut: 27/03/97
Past World Cups: 1999

Left-arm off-spin bowler
Left-handed batsman

Vettori has enjoyed a rapid rise to fame in international cricket.

At the age of 18 the bespectacled spinner was thrust into the Test spotlight.

And in only his second outing, despite defeat, he was taking the plaudits after a four-wicket haul against England.

Vettori has gone from strength to strength since and became the youngest player to take 100 Test wickets.

He will reach and pass another century milestone at the World Cup when he will run out for the 100th time in a one-day international.

Passing three figures with the bat is unlikely however, as Vettori's batting has not developed in anything like the same manner as his controlled spin.
