Doug Marillier
Douglas Marillier
Born: 24/4/78
Team: Midlands
ODI debut: 30/9/00
Past World Cups: -

Right-arm off-break bowler
Right-handed batsman

Marillier's progress to international cricketer is a remarkable achievement since only eight years ago he was confined to a wheelchair.

Two broken legs in a car crash looked to have destroyed any hope of a cricketing career.

But against all the odds he was back in the middle within a year of the accident and is now on the greatest stage of all.

He is a steady spin bowler capable of match-winning contributions and can bat anywhere in the order.

The Zimbabwean has two half-centuries to his name, one of them was one of the most remarkable in one-day cricket.

With 65 needed off 34 balls against India in Faridabad in March 2002, Marillier hit a six and 10 fours in making 56 off 24 balls to see Zimbabwe home with two balls to spare.
