Sean Ervine
Sean Ervine
Born: 6/12/82
Team: Midlands
ODI debut: 10/10/01
Past World Cups: -

Left-handed batsman
Right-arm medium bowler

Ervine is the youngest member of Zimbabwe's squad and something of a surprise selection.

Although he possesses abundant potential, his lack of the experience - highlighted by bowling inaccuracy - could cost Zimbabwe.

In the absence of others he was given the responsibility of opening the attack in the recent series against Pakistan but was not at his best in a poor team bowling display.

However, he did star with the bat, hitting a career-best 61 not out in the second match of the series.

His ability to fill in as an all-rounder will have caught the eye of the selectors, especially with doubts over captain Heath Streak's fitness.

Ervine is also effervescent in the field, patrolling the covers with confidence.
