Ebrahim can be judged lucky to have made the squad.
His form in international one-day cricket has been patchy to say the least.
The opener played in 33 consecutive matches following his debut against Bangladesh in 2001.
But after missing out in two matches against Pakistan and the series at home to Kenya in December, it looked as if his push for a place may have faltered at the final hurdle.
However, despite only notching a half-century and a ton against Bangladesh, the only times he has passed 50, he made the cut.
He should also make the team, but needs to flourish in a potential youthful first-wicket partnership with Mark Vermeulen to repay the faith of the selectors.
