Jimmy Maher
Jimmy Maher
Born: 27/2/74
Team: Queensland
ODI debut: 14/1/98
Past World Cups: -

Left-handed batsman
Right-arm medium bowler

Maher first broke into what was largely an experimental Australian line-up in 1998 but lasted only two games.

He returned four years later, top-scoring with 95 in his comeback match in South Africa at the start of 2002.

Maher played in five games in the seven-match series and finished at the top of the Australian batting averages.

The left-hander has been an intrinsic part of Queensland's recent success and will be looking to transfer that to the international scene.

An attacking batsman who can play either at the top of the order or lower down, he gives Australia options.

Quick on his feet and a fantastic close fielder who will be the back-up wicketkeeper, the 28-year-old will be putting pressure on more established batsmen for a starting berth.
