Jason Gillespie
Jason Gillespie
Born: 19/4/75
Team: South Australia
ODI debut: 30/8/96
Past World Cups: -

Right-arm fast bowler
Right-handed batsman

Gillespie is renowned as one of the best bowlers on the international circuit - and one of the unluckiest.

He was a non-playing member of Australia's 1996 World Cup campaign at the age of 20.

By the time an opportunity came to play in the World Cup four years later the fickle fate of fitness had intervened.

Gillespie finally gets his chance to make a belated impact in South Africa - a happy hunting ground for the bowler.

During Australia's last visit there in 2002, he finished as the top wicket-taker with 12 victims in a seven-match series.

Fast and accurate, with first-class control, he will be keen to make amends for missing out on a World Cup twice before.
