Niue will be entering their first Games as part of the development of sport on the island.
They have recently entered the Oceania and South Pacific Games and popular sports include rugby, football, netball and weightlifting.

Nearly the entire population of Niue turned out to watch their men’s rugby team play their first ever rugby test, against the Cook Islands in June 2001.
The match was in the Eastern Pacific qualifying round of the Rugby World Cup and the Cook Islands won 28-8.
