Ever-present since 1930, Wales have picked up 40 gold medals in total as part of their tally of 165.
Last time, the Welsh team of 191 athletes came home with three golds – Kelly Morgan (badminton), Iwan Thomas (400m) and Desmond Davies (shooting).
Their strength in recent years has come on the track.
