The Scots have been at every Games and have hosted the event twice in 1970 and 1986.

They have won 271 medals in all, 65 of them gold – with three coming in 1998.

Last time around, Scotland grabbed gold in boxing and lawn bowls, as well as in squash through Peter Nicol, who will compete this year for England.

Did you know?
Scottish middle-distance running legend Yvonne Murray won a gold medal at the 10,000m in 1994 and silver and bronze medals at the 3,000m in 1986 and 1990.

She still holds the Scottish women’s record for the 1500m, mile, 3,000m and 5,000m.
