Georgos Achilleos (shooting)

Cyprus picked up one medal of each colour last time out after sending a team of 29 to Kuala Lumpur, with gold coming in the men’s skeet pairs (shooting).

They will be competing in their sixth Games this summer and have collected 10 medals since 1978 – four of them gold – showing consistency in the shooting events.

Did you know?
Cyprus-born American football kicker Garo Yepremian was one of the most unlikely sports stars of all time.

Yepremian went to America in the 1960s when he was 22 in an attempt to get a gridiron scholarship having never played the game.

He failed but was picked up by the Detroit Lions as a kicker and went on to become the ninth highest points-scorer in NFL history.
