Brunei first competed in the Games in 1990 but are still waiting for their first medal.

Despite sending a team of 18 to Kuala Lumpur in 1998, they returned from Malaysia empty-handed and sent only one athlete, sprinter Awang Hasri Asri, to the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Did you know?
Ice hockey player Craig Adams became the first native of Brunei to score a NHL goal when he netted for the Carolina Hurricanes in November 2000.

Adams, who was born in Seria of British parents, took up the sport as a child when his family moved to Canada.
