Their first Games were in 1950 and Nigeria have racked up 107 medals since then, including 30 golds.

They did not compete in 1998 but four years earlier enjoyed their best Games yet, with 11 golds among their total of 37 medals.

Nigeria’s strengths are in the sprint events, as well as boxing and weightlifting.

Did you know?
Nigeria won a gold medal in their first appearance at the Commonwealth Games - at Cardiff in 1954 when Emmanuel Ifeanjuna triumphed in the high jump.
