Malawi have been at every Games since Edinburgh in 1970 and have won three medals – all in boxing and all bronze.

Their team of 18 in Malaysia four years ago could not add to that but boxing remains their best chance of a medal.

The annual Lake Malawi 500km sailing marathon is the world’s longest freshwater endurance race.
