The 1998 Games were Cameroon’s first, but they made a big impression in the weightlifting – four of their six medals came in that event.

Their team of 26 athletes did not manage gold in Kuala Lumpur but settled for three silver and three bronze medals.

Did you know?
Cameroon have won only one Olympic gold medal in their history – and that came in the football tournament in Sydney 2000.

They beat Spain in a penalty shoot-out with Pierre Wome scoring the decisive spot-kick.
