Piper clinches 200m breaststroke

Australia's Jim Piper led from start to finish to win the men's 200m breaststroke.

Piper, the favourite for the race, set out at a sharp pace and nearly paid for expending most of his energy when South Africa's Terence Parkin closed in.

The Australian just managed to touch home in front of Parkin in a time of two minutes 13.10 seconds.

Parkin finished in 2:13.34 while Canada's Michael Brown took bronze with a time of 2:13.82.

England's Adam Whitehead came fourth, Northern Ireland's Andrew Bree took fifth while Scotland's Ian Edmond finished sixth.
