Igali completes Canadian sweep

Daniel Igali completed a clean sweep of gold for Canada in Sunday's wrestling finals when he won the 74kg category with a 10-0 whitewash of Sunday Opiah.

Nigerian-born Igali, who has 20 brothers and sisters, also won gold at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, and carried the Canadian flag at the opening ceremony.

The 28-year-old followed up golds for Guivi Sissaouri and Dean Schmeichel earlier in the evening.

Schmeichel beat eight-time African champion Victor Kodei of Nigeria to win the up to 96kgs category.

World champion and Olympic silver medallist Sissaouri defeated Indian Shokinder Tomar after three tense minutes of overtime.

Igali won his weight division at he 1999 world championships but was sidelined with a ligament injury for much of last year.

"I feel my career is complete after winning this medal,"said Igali.

Bronze medals went to India's Anil Kumar Mann (96kg), Australian Rein Ozoline (74kg) and Nigeria's Tebe Dorgu (60kg).
