Footballing faux pas

The in-house commentator at the sevens may know his rugby, but his footballing knowledge is rusty.

When New Zealand made their bow on the pitch, Mark Robson started to explain how they had warmed up for the competition at Manchester United's training ground and swapped training tips with the Sir Alex Ferguson's men.

His comments were met by a chorus of jeers by those sitting in the light blue seats at the City of Manchester Stadium which will become home to United's rivals, Manchester City, in a year's time.

After a pause Robson made amends for his faux pas.

"They should of course have gone to Arsenal, as Arsenal are the champions," he declared.

It may not have been City, but it pleased the crowd.
