She achieved a highest ranking of world number three, but by the mid-1980s switched careers after injuries had taken their toll on her tennis career.
Sue began working in sports broadcasting in 1985 with Australia's Channel 7, joined BSB in 1990, and later moved to Sky Sports.
Manchester will be Sue's third Commonwealth Games and, this year, she presents the majority of the athletics coverage, her favourite sport at the Games.
Sue was one of the main presenters of the BBC's award-winning Sydney Olympics coverage and co-presented this year's Derby and Grand National with the BBC's racing presenter, Clare Balding.
She is also a regular host of Sunday Grandstand, one of the presentation team for the BBC's annual Sports Review of the Year, and is host of the long-running quiz show A Question of Sport.
Sue received the prestigious TRIC award for sports presenter/reporter of the year in 1998 and was made an MBE in 2000.
