Malaysia scooped three badminton gold medals on the final day of the Commonwealth Games.

Hashim, ranked third of Malaysia's three contenders, blew a gilt-edged chance to win it in the fourth set and then had to out-last Lee in a gruelling fifth. "I missed a good chance and then I thought it would be very difficult to control the match in the fifth set," he said. "I am very happy, because this is the first gold medal for me." Lim Pek Siah and Ang Li Peng showed great stamina to clinch the women's doubles. They outgunned Sara Runesten Petersen and Nicole Gordon of New Zealand in five sets. And the all-Malaysian men's doubles final ended with top seeds Chew Choon Eng and Chan Chong Ming beating Choong Tan Fook and Chang Kim Wai in five sets.
