Kipketer leads Kenyan clean sweep

Sammy Kipketer led a Kenyan 1-2-3 in the 5,000m final.

Kipketer outsprinted compatriot Ben Limo to take the gold medal in a time of 13mins 13.51secs, a new Games record.

Willy Kirui ran a personal best time to be third, with England's John Mayock recording a personal best of 13:19.43 to pip team-mate Samuel Haughian for fourth.

There was drama in the opening stages of the race as favourite Limo stumbled and fell.

But he picked himself up and was soon at the head of the field.

Kipketer wound up the pace gradually throughout the race and soon had the field strung out.

The Kenyan trio broke clear of the rest of the field with about three laps to go.

On the final lap, Kirui was the first to crack as Kipketer and Limo battled it out all the way to the line.
