Bahamas sprint queen Debbie Ferguson justified her pre-race favouritism to win the Commonwealth Games 100m final in a record time.
Ferguson made a good start and powered through to win in a Games-record 10.91 seconds.
Jamaica's Veronica Campbell (11.00secs) made a late charge to take silver.
And Sevatheda Fynes (11.07secs) took bronze in a photo finish ahead of Sri Lanka's Susanthika Jayansinghe.
"It felt like it was the Olympics"
Debbie Ferguson
100m champion
Ferguson was quick out of the blocks, as was her Bahamas team-mate Fynes. But it was the more experienced athlete who best maintained her effort all the way to the tape. Ferguson held off the fast-finishing Campbell to win in the third fastest time in the world this year. The champion said of her victory: "I came here hoping to run a good race, but to get the Commonwealth record is fantastic. "The stadium was full and it felt like it was the Olympics. "I came here to win the title and set a new record and I have achieved it and I don't care if others didn't come because if you're not in you can't win," she said.
