Austin wins gold in style

Ben Austin with his gold medal
Austin gets a taste for gold

Australia's Ben Austin set a world record as he claimed the gold medal in the men's multi-disability 50m freestyle.

His time of 27.59 was 0.34 under the world record for the S8 category that he had set earlier in the heats.

Canadians got silver and bronze, with Phillipe Gagnon equalling the world mark in the S10 category in 25.04.

He equalled the record of Benoit Huot, who was 0.03 behind his compatriot.

Medals are awarded after a comparison between each swimmer's time and the world record in his disability.
