Thorpe grabs fourth gold
Ian Thorpe
Ian Thorpe is seeking seven gold medals

Ian Thorpe claimed his fourth gold medal of the Games by guiding Australia to victory in the men's 4x200m freestyle.

The Australians set a new Commonwealth Games record in the process to finish ahead of Canada and England.

Earlier in the day, Thorpe, who is aiming to win seven gold medals in Manchester, reached Friday's final of the 100m freestyle.

He went in the second semi at the Manchester Aquatics Centre and promptly left his rivals trailing in his wake on his way to the fastest qualifying mark.
