Gilroy sweeps aside Moll
Sue Gilroy claimed her sixth 3-0 win of the tournament
England's Sue Gilroy took gold in the women's wheelchair singles with a comprehensive win over Alette Moll of South Africa. The 29-year-old teacher from Barnsley triumphed 11-5 13-11 11-3, and admitted afterwards that she was surprised how easy her win had been.
"It is brilliant. "The standard of the competition has been high, I've been up against some of the best players in the world in the knockout stages. "But I was surprised I won 3-0. Alette is a really good player and it was a really close match when I played her a few weeks ago." Moll admitted she had not deserved to win but remained upbeat. "She played a good game, she was very consistent, but my chance will come again," said the South African. |
