England reach team final

England stayed on course for gold as they reached the men's team event final in Manchester.

They earned their place in the title match against Nigeria with a 3-1 victory against India.

Matthew Syed kept his unbeaten record intact as he beat Chetan Baboor 10-12 15-13 11-8 11-4 in the decisive match.

English number one Syed opened with a win against Raman Subranian.

Gareth Herbert put England 2-0 ahead when he defeated Baboor, before Terry Young went down to Soumyadeep Roy.

Syed went on to wrap things up to set up the showdown against Nigeria, who cruised past Singapore 3-0 to book their place in the gold-medal game.

In the women's team semi-finals, Singapore got the better of New Zealand 3-2 despite a pair of wins from Kiwi Chunli Li.

Australia edged past Canada by the same score with Miao Miao picking up two narrow victories.
