New Zealand 67-35 England

Goal shooter Irene Van Dyk was the star as New Zealand showed no mercy to a lacklustre England side.

Former South Africa Test player Van Dyk converted 44 of her 48 shots at goal, as the Silver Ferns took control from the start.

Goal attacks Belinda Colling and Donna Loffhagen gave England's defenders a torrid time, and the vociferous home support could not lift their team.

The result leaves England needing to beat South Africa in a play-off on Wednesday for a place in the semi-finals.

New Zealand will top pool A as long as they beat Wales on Wednesday.

Australia 74-38 South Africa

Australia showed why they are favourites to defend their Commonwealth Games netball title with a comprehensive win over South Africa.

The top seeds secured a third successive win in Manchester with a powerful display in the second and third quarters.

Catherine Cox led the way with 39 goals from 50 attempts, as Australia all but guaranteed an automatic semi-final spot.

South Africa must now win an extra qualification game to make the last four.

Wales 49-42 Canada

Wales guaranteed a qualification play-off match with a hard-fought win over Canada.

The inexperienced Canadians forced Wales captain Jo Griffiths into a number of timely interventions at goal defence.

And after trailing throughout the first half, Canada took the lead early in the second period.

But coach Raewyn Henry tightened up her backline and goal shooter Mair Jones netted 37 goals to see Wales home.

Jamaica 84-33 Fiji

Jamaica made light work of beating Fiji, with Elaine Davis scoring an impressive 58 goals in a one-sided affair.

The Pacific Islanders had no answer. They fell behind early and failed to recover.
