Chowdhry (centre) has reinstated Agong
Ugandan boxing judge David Agong has been reinstated four days after he was handed a indefinite ban for making "political decisions".
Amateur International Boxing Association president Anwar Chowdhry banned Agong because of his performance in a first-round light-middleweight contest.
Chowdhry made the decision even though Agong's scores were similar to three of the other four officials. Agong issued a statement on Wednesday night claiming his reputation was in tatters and that he would pursue legal action against Chowdhry if he did not apologise. A day later Agong was back officiating. "Dr Chowdhry saw me this morning (Thursday) and told me continue as normal," said Agong. "He still did not tell me what I had done wrong or why I had been suspended, or what was the political decision, but now my reputation is intact again." |
