England complete relay double
England held off a powerful late charge from Wales to claim victory in the men's 4x400m relay.
England's Daniel Caines, Matthew Elias of Wales and Jamaica's Michael Blackwood looked set for a race to the line as they surged into the final straight just yards apart.
But Caines and Elias were left to fight it out as Blackwood dropped the baton, with the Bahamas taking third.
England's win gave them a relay double after their victory in the men's 4x100m earlier in the evening.
But there was an anxious wait for the team of Jared Deacon, Sean Baldock, Chris Rawlinson and Caines as they waited for the result of the photo finish.
They celebrated as they were given victory in a time of 3:00.40 seconds, while Tim Benjamin, Iwan Thomas, Jamie Baulch and Elias had to settle for second, just 0.01sec behind.
The Bahamas quartet of Chris Brown, Troy McIntosh, Dominic Demeritte and Timothy Munnings took bronze, with Blackwood and his team-mates left empty handed.
"It was a team effort," said Caines. "If I had gone off like a madman I would have let the others down.
"We had a job to do and we did it really well. I was really tired with 40m to go but I managed to hold on for the team."
