Hicham El Guerrouj came to Athens determined to finally win an Olympic gold which had eluded him throughout his career.

And the Moroccan achieved his dream in style, winning not just the 1500m but doubling up to clinch the 5,000m.

He became the first man to do so since Finnish great Paavo Nurmi in 1924.
