Turbulent start

Sir Alex Ferguson's glorious reign as manager of Old Trafford did not get off to the best of starts.

He arrived at Old Trafford in November 1986 with an impressive pedigree, having broken the Old Firm's stranglehold on Scottish football as boss of Aberdeen.

But he made an inauspicious start as bitter rivals Liverpool continued to rule the roost.
