The cycling champion defied all odds and critics to win the Tour de France for a record sixth time to beat his closest rival Andreas Kloden.

The Texan was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1996 and was given a 50/50 chance of survival but has fought on to become one of the greatest and most recognised sportsmen of our time.
