Strange replaced Ben Crenshaw as US captain
Strange, with his characteristic white hair, has the task of leading his country’s defence of the Ryder Cup.

The Virginian is a past master when it comes to the tournament, having played on five occasions.

His record in the competition is not as impressive as it could be, having lost 12 of his 20 matches.

But his record on the American PGA tour is outstanding, with more than 20 titles, and he was the first man to win two consecutive US Opens since Ben Hogan.
