Westwood's first Ryder Cup experience was a winning one in 1997
Worksop's Lee Westwood has enjoyed success both on the European Tour and in the Ryder Cup.

The 28-year-old earned his first Ryder Cup cap in 1997, and paired with Nick Faldo, lost his first fourballs match to Fred Couples and Brad Faxon.

But he bounced back to help see off Justin Leonard and Jeff Maggert 3&2 in the foursomes.

Two years later, Westwood won two of his matches with new partner and friend Darren Clarke.

But he lost the other three as the United States eventually took the trophy.
