Harrington's win over Mark O'Meara at Brookline was in vain
The Dubliner made his Ryder Cup debut in 1999 at Brookline.

And many in the game, particularly on the American tour, were unaware how mature Harrington's game was.

Harrington halved his first foursomes match with Miguel Angel Jimenez against Davis Love III and the late Payne Stewart, but did lose to Steve Pate and Tiger Woods.

Although Europe eventually lost, he also managed to beat Mark O'Meara by a hole for a valuable point in the singles.
