Pierre Fulke
Fulke preferred handball to golf as a youngster
Swedish star Pierre Fulke is the surprise automatic entry in Europe's Ryder Cup elite.

Fulke will be making his debut thanks in part to a Volvo Masters triumph in 2000 and finishing runner-up at the Accenture Match Play Championship early in 2001.

And despite a lack of recent success, picking up that 800,000 cheque for second place in Melbourne showed he can hold his own under match play conditions.

The Swede was originally going to choose handball over golf, but changed his mind after successes at junior and amateur level.
