Can Clarke revive his successful partnership with Westwood?

Cigar-smoker Clarke is one of the characters of the European Tour.

He burst on to the Ryder Cup scene in 1997 and in tandem with Colin Montgomerie, managed to defeat Fred Couples and Davis Love III by one hole on the second day of fourballs.

In 1999, Clarke played all five matches, but crucially lost three as Europe were eventually beaten.

So he will be as determined as any of the other Europeans to gain revenge this time round.
