The longest stage of the Tour de France is also the last-chance saloon for many of the sprinters before the Alps, through which many will retire.

History
Djamolidine Abdoujaparov is the last stage winner in Lyon, the "Tashkent Express" outsprinting the best in 1991.

It may have been his last day of glory before retiring from the race, but Alessandro Petacchi was on top again.
