Stage 5
One of the Tour's longer stages, a host of breaks will be expected by the peloton as the race leaders battle to keep everyone together before the mountains.

History
Guido Bontempi triumphed when a stage last finished in Nevers, outsprinting the peloton in 1986.

Stage winner
Alessandro Petacchi picked up his third Tour de France stage win with a superbly timed surge to the line.
