Stage 1
As always, the first stage of the Tour is extremely flat, giving the sprinters a chance to stake their first claim for race glory.
History
Montgeron became part of Tour history when it saw off the first ever start on 1 July, 1903, in front of the Reveil Matin.
Stage winner
Alessandro Petacchi carried over his Giro d'Italia form to the opening sprint after a horrific crash marred the end to the stage.
Sunday 6th July | 168km
Saint-Denis/Montgeron - Meaux
