Matthew Hayden

Matthew Hayden
Left-handed batsman
Right-arm medium bowler

Born: 29 October 1971
State: Queensland
Test appearances: 37
Debut: v South Africa 1994

It's hard to talk about Hayden without mentioning Justin Langer - and vice versa.

He is half of a fantastic combination that frequently gives Australia the perfect start with the bat.

He took his time getting into the side, but since 2001, when he made the breakthrough, he's not looked back.

He loves hitting the ball down the ground and when it is hit it stays hit.

Since he burst into form in India in 2001, that summer's Ashes series has been his only low point and he will be looking to make up for it now.
