Gabba
First Test 7-11 November

There are a host of places to stay, plenty of places to eat and, of course, gallons of dubious Aussie beers to drink in a city of more than a million people.

There are decent pubs all over town, both in the city centre and further afield, including Fortitude Valley, Southbank and West End.

Just make sure you take advantage of the warm summer evenings by sitting outside instead of getting stuck at the bar.

Brisbane does not have many must-see sights as such, but there is one place that seems to find its way onto every Barmy Army itinerary.

If you give a XXXX about what you drink then find out the times of tours around the Castlemaine Perkins Brewery.

Brizzy also lacks the city beach that all the other venues are blessed with.

However, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast are both only a short drive away if you’re missing a fix of beachlife.

Slapping on the factor 25 cream is a given at the cricket.

If you need a reminder of the damage the sun can do check out the sun-ravaged farmers who roll into town for the Test.
