Clare Balding

Clare Balding's speciality is horse racing but she also covers a variety of other sports and assignments.

A former leading amateur Flat jockey and champion lady rider, Clare began her BBC career with Radio 5 in 1993, presenting the racing bulletin on Danny Baker's Morning Edition.

She was appointed as the BBC's TV racing presenter in December 1997, following the retirement of Julian Wilson.

But aside from racing she has shown expertise in a whole range of sports, including rugby league and tennis, and is a familiar face to Grandstand viewers.

Clare has also reported for Five Live's Sportsweek and BBC TV's Onside, and appeared on entertainment shows A Question of Sport and They Think It's All Over.
