Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic made straightforward progress in their second-round matches at Wimbledon.

On another hot day in SW19, five-time champion and second seed Federer brushed aside Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-2 6-2 6-4 on Centre Court.

Fourth seed Djokovic was less impressive despite a 7-5 6-1 6-4 win over German Simon Greul on Court One.

The Serb said afterwards that he has "no expectations for Wimbledon" as he struggles to find his best form.

Federer goes on to face Germany's 27th seed Phillip Kohlschreiber, who beat Ivo Minar 6-4 3-6 4-6 6-2 8-6.

American Mardy Fish lies in wait for Djokovic after the 28th seed defeated Janko Tipsarevic 6-4 3-6 6-1 6-4.

Djokovic, who lost in the second round to Marat Safin last year, immediately fell a break behind against Greul, a qualifier ranked 106 in the world.

It was hard going for the world number four but he battled back to take the opening set, only to drop serve again at the start of the second and throw his racquet in anger.

That seemed to do the trick as Djokovic won eight straight games but there were more problems in the third set as he twice went ahead, only to be broken back.

The 22-year-old found himself slipping around behind the baseline at times and was thankful for yet another break in game nine that allowed him to serve out the win.

"I did not have a lot of success here last year so I had no expectations for Wimbledon this year and don't try to create pressure on myself to get far in the tournament. I play each match at a time.

"I am aware of my qualities but do not want to create extra pressure on myself as I know how hard it is to deal with it. I am happy people are not talking about me.

"I wish for that so I can really focus on my game and try to perform my best tennis as possible."

Federer had the easiest of passages into the last 32 as he demolished Garcia-Lopez, who has been in good form and currently stands at a a career-high of 42 in the world.

Two breaks in both the first and second sets and another in game four of the third took the Swiss to victory in one hour 29 minutes.

"Today was a good match," said Federer. "I definitely didn't have to play my very best but it was solid and that's exactly what I needed today.

"There are many rounds to pass, many guys to have a crack at me with nothing to lose, and that's probably what's going to happen in the next round as well.

Will Federer win a sixth title?

"If I can keep up my level I hope I'll get through. I'm confident and I'm playing great at the moment so I hope it's going to last for a while here."

Federer played down the fact that his wife Mirka, who is expecting their first child in the next month, was not watching his match court-side.

Federer has always refused to reveal the due-date and dismissed reports that his wife might be about to go into labour.

"She's not feeling 100%, only 95%, so we decide it was best if she took it easy," he said. "It's important she takes it easy, and she's already feeling much better."
