Keothavong wins Barnstaple Open

Anne Keothavong

British number one Anne Keothavong has won the Barnstaple Open title after beating Italy's Alberta Brianti 6-4, 6-2 in Sunday's final.

Keothaving, who beat the British number three Katie O'Brien in the semis, said the Italian gave her a tough test.

"It was the first time I'd played Alberta and she's a tricky opponent," she told BBC Radio Devon.

"We've played doubles together in the past and I knew it was going to be a difficult match for me."

She added: "But once I found my rhythm on my serve and got into it I just got better and better."
